The much-awaited facelift of Mahindra’s flagship SUV, the XUV700, will be renamed the 7XO. The update is in line with Mahindra’s new naming policy, after the recently launched 3XO. The facelifted model will come in both internal combustion engine (ICE) and electric (EV) options. This will provide more options for prospective buyers. Let’s take a look at the details of this new model.

A BOLD NEW IDENTITY – THE 7XO

Sources within the auto industry report that the XUV700 facelift will have its new title name 7XO. Altogether it’ll be bearing a more futuristic design language of the XEV 7e. You can expect a price hike of around Rs. 40,000 to Rs. 90,000. As hinted at from leaks and recent spied pics, the newest rendition will also possess an LED lighting bar all over the length of the front cladding, which blurs onto a pair of 7-shaped 7-pattern LED DRLs on the respective sides.

In contrast to the current ICE model, the EV version will have a closed-off front section with aggressive design cues and a skid plate in place of a conventional grille. Although the side profile and rear design are comparable to the current XUV700, the new aggressive front fascia will make the 7XO stand out.

INTERIOR AND FEATURES – A PREMIUM EXPERIENCE

Although the official details are yet to be announced, the 7XO will likely take the triple-screen design that was unveiled in Mahindra’s XEV 9e concept. Mahindra has always emphasized comfort and technology in its cars. Therefore, customers can look forward to a luxurious cabin, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), and top-of-the-line infotainment features. The interior quality will also likely see a major boost, providing a more premium experience.

POWERTRAIN OPTIONS – ICE AND EV VARIANTS

The ICE version of the 7XO will, in all likelihood, carry over the current powertrains that have found favor with buyers. The genuine surprise, however, is the launch of a variant of the car with an electric powertrain. Thus marking a big step towards Mahindra’s EV plans. This will make available to customers the tried-and-tested internal combustion engine options coupled with eco-friendly electric mobility.

CONCLUDING REMARKS

Mahindra’s decision to rebadge the XUV700 facelift as the 7XO is an all-round design, technology, and powertrain overhaul. The addition of a reminiscing EV variant to go alongside the ICE model should increase Mahindra’s presence in the SUV market. With more details to be announced prior to its formal launch, it is clear that the 7XO is all set to redefine benchmarks in its segment. Stay tuned for more updates on this revolutionary SUV.
