A much-awaited 2025 MotoGP India Grand Prix was rescheduled to 2026, badly affecting the motorsport fans. Reports say that the MotoGP authorities rescheduled the date due to “operational circumstances.” This has come as a shock since the event was booked for three consecutive years at the Buddh International Circuit.

The event had been a welcome for Indian fans who were so excited to see MotoGP return to India in 2023. It had been hosted at the Buddh International Circuit, and the victory had gone to Marco Bezzecchi. The event was pretty thrilling, as it was claimed that the riders appreciated the newly resurfaced track of Buddh. However, the extreme September heat wave proved challenging. Riders by the hundreds had to be admitted to the hospital due to heatstroke. The main race had to be trimmed down on such extreme conditions. This process has questioned the possibility of hosting events during India’s late summer.

Despite the weather worries for the weekend, the future of MotoGP in India had seemed secure and sound with a confirmed three-year tie-up between Dorna Sports and the Uttar Pradesh government’s Invest UP initiative. The partnership was to make the Greater Noida circuit an annual stop on the global MotoGP calendar. That timeline has changed, though, and the race returns at the end of 2025 only.

OFFICIAL STATEMENT

“Operational circumstances have forced the event to be moved from its originally planned date near the opening of the 2025 calendar. With no suitable dates remaining for the end of the season, MotoGP will therefore return to India early in 2026.”

While the wait has left fans a bit frustrated, MotoGP and Invest UP are working on delivering a world-class event when the race does return. They emphasized establishing India as the key destination for global sporting events. This will be ensured by making the 2026 MotoGP Indian Grand Prix one of the best shows in the business.

As the operators battle out these operational issues, motorsport enthusiasts will look forward to an even more action-packed show in 2026 with the possibility of a far bigger and exciting event at the Buddh International Circuit.
