For the first time in history, the Indian Racing Festival is revving its engines and turning into the Northeast Indian streets. Undoubtedly, the excitement is already buzzing. From April 12 till April 22, five cities—Kohima, Aizawl, Shillong, Guwahati, and Gangtok—will become motorsport tracks, bringing the sound of Formula 4 racing to areas that have seldom experienced the thrill of pro-level competition.
IT’S NOT JUST A RACE – IT’S A THOROUGHBRED FESTIVAL
Organised by JK Tyre and Industries, the festival is officially referred to as the “JK Tyre powered Indian Racing Festival – A Carnival of Total Control.” And it’s just that: a carnival. Combining high-speed racing, bike stunt demonstrations, fan interactions, and motorsport learning, this festival will be more than just an event — it’s a movement.
Whether you are a hardcore racing enthusiast or simply someone seeking a day out to remember, this festival is aimed at entertaining, educating, and inspiring.
FROM THE STREETS TO THE YOUTH
What makes this edition really special is its purpose — to take motorsports to young dreamers in new cities. For years, India’s motorsport scene has been metro-centric. Now, the Northeast, with its vibrant youth and increasing passion for cars and bikes, gets a front-row seat to Formula 4.
Colleges and schools are already in. Organizers are providing complimentary passes to students, exposing many to motorsport culture for the first time. Some will even get to tour pit lanes and meet drivers — an experience they will never forget.
FORMULA 4 TAKES THE SPOTLIGHT
Be prepared to see India’s finest up-and-coming drivers take down city streets in high-tech, high-performance Formula 4 cars. These are not your average cars — they’re the same model used to hone the next generation of global drivers. Precision, pace, and handling — all on a scale never before seen in Northeast India.
GUWAHATI, SHILLONG PREPARING BIG TIME
In Guwahati, work crews are already laboring around the clock to construct a race-ready city circuit — with barriers, grandstands, and hospitality areas coming together. And in Shillong, youth clubs, colleges, and social clubs are abuzz.
The two cities are giving motorsport the red carpet treatment, with hopes that this event will become a regular occurrence on India’s racing calendar.
BACKED BY LOCAL GOVERNMENTS, ADORED BY THE PEOPLE
Local governments are all aboard. From increasing tourism and traffic to generating temporary employment and getting their cities on the national motorsport map, officials see the worth this event provides.
And it’s not merely about economics — it’s about proving that cities like Gangtok and Aizawl are in the same sporting discussion as Delhi or Mumbai.
RACING, BUT SAFELY
All the circuits are being constructed under the strict supervision of the Motorsport Federation of India (FMSCI). There will be medical teams, marshals, and emergency medical services on standby to ensure that all events conform to international safety standards.
Bikes, Stunts & Simulators: A Show Within the Show
While the cars rest, the stunts start! Experienced bikers will be drifting, wheelie-ing, and freestyling into the hearts of the crowd. And for fans who wish to experience the rush, there’ll be VR racing simulators, selfie points, and motorsport-themed games to keep the adrenaline flowing.
